My niece is involved in an environmental club, where they develop in children not only a love of nature and respect for the planet’s resources, but also creative imagination. The main motto in handmade art is reuse of materials. Almost everything is used, and this is not at all expensive for the family budget, because not all parents can afford materials for needlework. I offer a master class that we came up with together with Masha.

To make brooches, metal clasps were purchased (can be replaced with pins), and everything else was found in a box with unnecessary things: scraps of fabric, knitwear, braid, cord, lace, buttons, beads and beads, feathers...
I decided to sew a hat from an old woolen sweater.

Having trimmed the edges of the sweater, processed with an overlocker, I folded the scraps like a snail and drew attention to the interesting texture of these same snail circles.

This is how the idea of ​​turning wool scraps into warm and cozy ones was born. A piece of linen lace is the result of shortening a maxi skirt. Scraps of gray cotton with “silvering” were also useful. The feathers were collected in the zoo in the summer. The back of the brooches is an old English woolen scarf, machine washed and felted to a felt state, very similar to handmade felt.

Narrow strips, approximately 1.5-2 cm, are cut out of a wide strip of linen lace. The edges of the strips are decorated with teeth according to the existing pattern on the lace. One of the edges of the cotton scraps is specially frayed; for this purpose, the warp threads were pulled out by about 0.5 cm. Along the other edge (both on the fabric and on the lace) a stitch was sewn by hand “forward with the needle.” Subsequently, by pulling the thread, you need to gather the fabric and...

Using zigzag scissors, cut out circles from the scarf onto which we will sew clasps for brooches. Please note that the clasps should be moved slightly up from the center, so the finished brooch will not sag under its own weight. If you don’t have zigzag scissors, you can cut out the circles with ordinary scissors; the felt won’t fray.

So, let's make brooches.

In the first brooch, the center is a roll of wool scraps. There is a lace frill around it. The addition is a fragment from a broken necklace (beads on a fishing line), and guinea fowl feathers.

To combine the color of the dark gray center and light gray lace, a Czech glass bead and about 12-14 pieces of seed beads and bugles are sewn into the center.

The first tier of the next brooch is made of gray stripes gathered into a frill. I pre-processed the outer edge of the strip using a sewing machine using a frequent zigzag stitch. The next tier is made from a flounce of linen lace, which should be approximately 7 mm narrower than the gray strip. The middle of the brooch is a roll of wool scraps. A button tied with silk is sewn into the very center. Can be replaced with any button that matches the color.

Supplemented with a bud (a bunch of stamens is inserted into the linen cord) and linen braid.

The third brooch is quite simple to make: a strip with a frayed edge gathered on a thread, laid in a spiral in a circle on the base and secured with hand stitches. A linen cord and button are sewn into the center.

And finally, a brooch from what was left: a wool roll, gray feathers, a bunch of stamens, pieces of cord, braid and ribbons, a small frill of cotton.

The back side of the brooches is decorated in the same way - circles with a clasp are sewn on by hand. If the base of the brooch does not have enough elasticity, you can place a circle of thick leather under the base, slightly smaller in diameter than the base.

It turns out that we take fabric with a width of 140 and a length of 280, fold it in half - this is the length of the dress, and again fold the width in half and cut it. But the sleeve width was measured at 30 cm and then there is an oblique line to the waist, set aside the width of the dress: chest circumference plus the freedom of fit.

And today I will tell you how I make brooches in boho style. These brooches can be worn with clothes or used as decoration for a notebook or album.

I’ll say right away that there are no rules here - each craftswoman develops her own style, her own peculiarity over time. I'm just showing how I do it. I hope that you will like it and find it useful in your creativity. ;)

Several types of fabric that match each other are cut into strips 2.5 - 3 cm wide . Colorful fabrics look beautiful in combination with plain ones. I work with linen, cotton and curtain organza. I needed different types of lace, decorative braid with roses, a piece of shabby ribbon and a button covered with fabric - we will start the brooch with it. The main tool is a needle and scissors.

I twist a strip of linen fabric into a flagellum.

Around the button, in a spiral, I begin to sew fabric “flagella” (stitch with a tack along the bottom of the brooch).

I alternate these flagella - flax, colored, flax again. Between them I insert pieces of lace and organza. Periodically, I make stitches through the brooch so that it does not fall apart and is durable during use. But I make sure that the brooch does not become deformed and remains round.

This is a creative process, so I don’t write where to insert a lace and where to insert a ribbon - each brooch becomes unique even from one craftswoman :)

Pay close attention to the size of the brooch. When the brooch reaches the desired size, fasten the tail and trim the brooch with lace.

Large brooches are good for decorating a belt or skirt. Brooches, smaller in size - on the chest or on scrap works. The average size of a brooch is 6-7 cm.

The main thing in such textile brooches is the many small details. It is the details that attract the viewer's eye.

The brooch is ready. If you plan to make it non-removable, then you can already sew it to the product.

And if you plan to remove the brooch, we will make a clasp for it. I will show you the example of another brooch - I decided to sew this one to the product.

First, we cut out a circle from fabric (usually I use thick linen) using scissors with a zig-zag blade, the diameter of which is equal to the diameter of our brooch (this will be the backing of the brooch).

Now we sew together three elements at once - in the center of the brooch we sew the base for the brooch (we sew both the brooch and the backing fabric at once). I try to use a metal base with an openwork rim - it’s easy to firmly attach the brooch to it. We sew in a circle.

The boho style is close to many people. And one of its features is the indispensable accessories - bags, belts, necklaces and brooches. Today we have found for you a master class by Irina Novikova. You can use absolutely any materials at hand to create a brooch. You will only have to buy a pin for the fastener. And everything else will probably be found in the storerooms of any needlewoman, even non-handicraftswoman! I used:

- a strip of cotton fabric 4 cm wide and 80 cm long;

- remnants of tulle;

- durable threads;

- different beads;

— metal fittings in the form of leaves;

- pin;

- Moment glue.

My sundress, just in boho style, has become completely unusable. Well, the Japanese are extremely thrifty people: if a kimono is worn out, no one will throw it away! And they will utilize it for good, creating all sorts of paintings in the Kinusaiga style. Well done! Why are we worse? I cut my sundress into shreds. I will make a boho bag from it. And there was only one strip left, neither here nor there... That’s what I decided to use to create a brooch for this master class.

I cut out a circle from felt and make a cut.

I sew this cut in the manner of a Vietnamese hat (now not only Japanese, but also Vietnamese trends have come into play

I fold my strip of fabric in half lengthwise and sew it to the “hat” in the center, securing it at the corners.

Then I turn the strip this way and sew it again.

This creates the first “petal”. I turn it exactly the same way next time.

And now the first circle around the center is ready.

We continue to turn the strip of fabric in this way, retreating further from the center with each “turn”.

At a certain stage we stop folding the strip. You will feel it yourself when such a moment has come. And we continue to sheathe in the same way, but with a single strip, until the edges of the strip protrude beyond the felt by about a centimeter.

Now cut off the excess strips.

Turn it inside out.

And carefully hem all the protruding parts of the fabric strip, like this.

Let's start decorating the rose. For this you need beads.

You can, of course, limit yourself to one color and size, but it seemed too boring to me. And boho is a fun style!

When the center is filled, cut out a piece of felt slightly larger than the diameter of the rose.

It’s not in vain that my spare parts from the future brooch are lying on the tulle, it’s not in vain that I cut off strips from it that I will use to cover the felt backing for the rose. If there is no unnecessary tulle, there is no need to shred existing curtains in an inconspicuous place. You can replace it with a piece of guipure, any lace, burlap, satin ribbon, etc.

I sheathed it in such a free style and completely asymmetrically. Boho, of course, also respects symmetry, but asymmetry more.

Trying on a rose.

Now I take out my supplies of metal leaves.

I sew them on.

I try on the rosette again.

You can sew! I will sew it on, adding additional small beads to the center.

But then our center will sink inwards. I shouldn’t have sewn a Vietnamese hat! That's why I take synthetic fluff.

I lift the rose and put synthetic fluff into the dome of the “hat” from the inside.

Now you can safely sew on the center, adding beads! I could have stopped there, but I decided to indulge in excess. I started making buds or berries from cat's eye beads. I pick up an elongated large bead, then a small round bead, and pass the needle through the large bead back into the fabric. Thus, a small bead serves as a stopper and, at the same time, as a pamper for a berry or bud.

I also sew on small flowers.

I secure them in a similar way, putting a large flower on a needle. a pearl bead, a small bead, and passing the needle through a large bead and flower, bypassing the small one.

Now I will sew on the fringe. I insert the needle under the rosette. The edges of the rose are not sewn on yet! I collect the required number of beads, a large bead and a small bead.

And just like I sewed on the “berries”, without inserting the needle into the outermost small bead, I insert it into all the others and into the fabric.

I sew all the fringe in this way.
