How to make a braid for a headband out of fabric. It's simple: how to make a headband with your own hands. Manufacturing techniques and options

All kinds of headbands, headbands, hairpins, plaits, hair decorations - all this is fashionable, beautiful, modern and in demand. Why not make yourself a hair decoration? This could be a DIY headband, a turban, plaits or fabric hairbands. For girls, you can make a crown or a unicorn on the headband (patterns are included).

The easiest option: how to make a hairband with your own hands - use wire, beads or flowers. You don’t always have a headband on hand that can be decorated. In this case, a wire rim is what you need to create a decoration. It is easiest to work with thin wire with a diameter of 0.5 or 0.3 mm. This wire is used in beading and is sold in craft stores.

This kind of rim can be made from 0.3 mm wire. and beads.

You can change the design, make the wire cells smaller - everything is in your hands. The technique itself is very simple: take a large piece of wire, bend it in half and twist 4 cm, then bend these 4 cm into a ring, to which an elastic band or chain is attached at the end.

Then there are 10 cm without decoration - just twisted wire. And then, at approximately the same distance, you twist these “honeycombs”, putting a bead on a “twig” of wire. Nothing complicated, everything ingenious is simple! I think that instead of beads, you can use beads, stringing them on a wire, and if you make small flowers from beads with your own hands, you will already have a twig with a flower.

If you want to know more details, watch the master class on this decor.

Look at what a beautiful beaded beaded bezel you can make on a thin base:

Such a headband with white beads can be made for a wedding. Here the thin bezel itself is braided with wire and beads. Decorated with beads and roses made of polymer clay.

Roses can be made from ribbon, felt, leather or any nylon fabric.

Jewelry such as hair plaits appeared relatively recently. Especially popular among Americans. They look very interesting. The most complex harness is called the Celtic knot.

Making such a rope is not difficult, you need to take a thick rope, cut it into pieces 75-80 cm long. Next, take fabric or knitwear of the same length and width, equal to the diameter of the rope plus 1 cm. Stitch from the wrong side and turn it inside out. We make a Celtic knot and stitch it with a needle and thread to match the color of the fabric. This is necessary so that our knot does not come apart. Trim off the excess. Sew on elastic or tape.

This type of tourniquet is also called Greek. You can also make a tourniquet from an old T-shirt. It is enough to cut the strips, stretch them by the ends so that they curl into tubes. Tie a knot, sew the ends together, or simply tie them together.

  2. Centimeter.
  3. Threads to match the color of the fabric.
  4. Pins, scissors.
  5. Beads or rhinestones (optional).
  6. Thin wire 0.3 or 0.5 mm. (Needed for the turban to keep its shape).

We measure the head. The bandage should be no smaller, but slightly larger in size than the head. We fold both strips lengthwise and stitch the edges of both, leaving a 4-5 cm section unstitched - this is necessary for turning it inside out. We also stitch the transverse ends. Turn it inside out. It turned out to be two “pipes”. Bend the ends of the wire (make a loop at both ends). Place the wire into one of the pipes, inserting it into the sharp corner of the “pipe” and sewing it with thread. Sew open areas with a blind stitch. Next, we lay out both “pipes” on the table. Red “pipe” on top.

Pass one “pipe” into the other, as in the photo. We thread the red part into the burgundy one. Pull out the burgundy piece so that both “pipes” are connected together. Manually secure the joints of the parts with invisible stitches.

The headband today is quite a fashionable accessory, and creating jewelry for it is a very exciting and easy task for lovers of needlework.

Hair jewelry has always remained in trend, only their shape has changed, as well as various combinations of colors and materials. The undoubted highlight of the season are hairbands, which you can make with your own hands. More and more designers began to focus on this hair accessory, preferring to experiment with color and shape. Headbands combine especially well with the Greek style, but much depends on the style of the decoration itself.

The technique for making the rim can be different; it all depends directly on your imagination and the availability of materials. The simplest option is to make a closed headband from simple fabric.

Such an accessory will look decent on almost any hair and will be appropriate for any style of clothing. Surprisingly, you can make such a hair accessory from just an old T-shirt using the instructions below:

In order to make any headband, you should stock up, correctly, with the maximum amount of decor. Almost any element can act as a decorating material. Most often these are beads, fabric flowers, feathers and all kinds of jewelry. As a result, you can get the following types of accessories:

When separating the types of headbands, it is impossible to ignore the options made with the participation of artificial flowers. This type of headband will always be appropriate, as it will allow you to create a fairly romantic and relaxed look for a girl. For example, in order to create an interesting option shown in the photo:

The following materials will be required:

An artificial fabric flower that already contains petals (the type of flower may differ from that presented in this master class);

Glue gun;

The base is a hoop, you can use an old unnecessary headband;

Two circles made of thick felt or cardboard.

You should start making this headband by creating a decoration that will be attached to the headband. To do this, attach a branch of greenery that matches the flower with glue to a cardboard blank.

Let the glue dry thoroughly and proceed to the next stage of making the rim. On one side we apply the decor we made to the base, and on the other we place a circle of felt on the glue.

Depending on the use of different materials and the creation of flower shapes, you can get absolutely stunning results.

If you want to get a smaller, everyday version of the headband, then you should pay attention to the possibility of creating a headband from fabric. A master class on making this type of accessory will amaze you with its simplicity.

All you need to make this project is a small piece of fabric and an inexpensive headband frame. Also, don’t forget about your sewing machine and iron. You should determine the size of the fabric for your future headband based on the size of the headband. First you need to cut out and cut out the desired piece of fabric.

Do not forget about the allowances - 1 cm on the short side and 0.6 cm on the long side. Next, fold the cut strip of fabric in half and gently iron it.

As a result, we get a folded and ironed bandage, ready for further work.

Now you should sew a strip around the perimeter, retreating approximately 1 mm from the edge of the fabric.

Using a special awl, make a slit on the inside of the bandage, as shown in the photo below.

The resulting cut can be processed or left as is. It all depends on the type of fabric used. Our bezel should be inserted into this slot.

Any piece of felt can serve as a decoration.

In principle, the appearance of a fabric headband will directly depend on the type and color of the fabric used. Accordingly, in some cases additional decorations may not be required. Like, for example, in the photo below:

An alternative to a fabric headband is a headband made from ribbons, which can also be used to create unique flower decorations. The only difference from the first option is that here you independently produce decorative elements according to your wishes. For example, you can try to make roses like these, like in the master class: . Some more interesting options for ribbon headbands:

If you want to make the decor of the headband as beautiful and rich as possible, you can add elements such as beads or rhinestones to the decoration. Creating such an option is not at all difficult, and you will only need simple beading basics, as well as a glue gun, which is very convenient for fixing all the elements. Interestingly, the beads on the headband can be placed in any order. The simplest thing is to randomly embroider the entire perimeter of the accessory with it. To do this, the headband should first be wrapped in a composition consisting of several layers of ironed non-woven fabric. This base will be very convenient for embroidery. The beads themselves should be randomly embroidered on a velvet blank to match the color of the rim, beads and leather.

As a result, we get a decorative element, which is subsequently attached to the rim.

We glue a leather blank to the back of the rim.

Of course, you can use more complex compositions when the headband is embroidered with beads or covered with rhinestones. The most important thing here is not to overdo it with the number of decorative elements, as this can make the headband too heavy.

Interesting compositions with rhinestones:

Using rhinestone decor is convenient because you do not need additional materials to implement it, since rhinestones are attached with glue to almost any surface.

Don’t forget about the possibility of using the so-called wire technique, with which you can attach completely different flower arrangements to your hair accessory.

To decorate the headband, you can use not only beautiful satin fabric, but also organza, which will make the accessory very suitable for special celebrations.

You can create flowers from organza using the usual method of making fabric flowers, similarly marking the middle with a bead or rhinestones. Options for creating fabric flowers and master classes on them can be found here.

A headband is not only a popular, but also a very fashionable hair accessory. For several fashion seasons in a row, fashion creators have been decorating the heads of their models with beautiful headbands. Are you and I any worse? We need headbands too! But finding a headband you like is not so easy. We suggest making a headband with your own hands!

But in general, making a headband is not so easy. Of course, if we are not talking about an elastic band. But the elastic headband is not so good for New Year's hairstyles - there is not enough holiday in it. It’s much simpler (and more interesting) to decorate a hairband with your own hands - beads, rhinestones, beads, ribbons...

DIY headband from scratch

Okay, let’s tell you at the same time how to make an elastic band. Nothing complicated - you just need perseverance and maximum accuracy. You will need something beautiful (braid, lace, an old jewelry necklace) or not so beautiful (leather laces, thin strips of knitwear in a beautiful color - even from an old T-shirt). You will also need a small piece of elastic band. We securely secure the elastic band with a machine or by hand to the ends of the braid, lace, or, using a needle and monofilament, to the edges of the necklace. With rope laces it’s a little more complicated - you can use them to create an intricate weave (braid, macrame, “lucky knots”), and then secure the ends in the same way with an elastic band, closing them in a circle. Look at the picture how this is done, you will quickly understand.

However, elastic headbands are not suitable for every hairstyle. Therefore, we will try to decorate simple plastic headbands. Here is freedom for a creative nature!

The decoration of the headband can be done using any materials suitable for the occasion. You probably remember that when your mother dressed you up as a Snowflake in kindergarten, she decorated your headband with tinsel. But we will go further - we make festive decorations for the headbands so that they can be worn not only on the New Year, but on any holiday in general.

Decorating headbands with rhinestones is the very first thing that comes to mind. There are several solutions here that can be combined into two groups.

The first is decoration with rhinestones of the same size, but different colors. Essentially the same diamond mosaic, only without a diagram. Done this way:

  • choose an ornamental stripe (you can search among cross-stitch or jacquard knitting patterns);
  • select rhinestones of the required colors in sufficient quantities;
  • stock up on transparent glue (for example, Moment Crystal is suitable) and tweezers with thin legs - even from the same diamond mosaic;
  • Carefully, smearing small areas of the rim with glue, from the middle of the workpiece and from the middle of the ornament, fill the entire surface with a pattern of rhinestones.

Alternatively, you can choose a pattern that will decorate the headband, but not hide it entirely in the shine of rhinestones. In this case, they work with glue differently - they lubricate the rhinestones themselves, and not the bezel.

The second is to decorate the headband with rhinestones of different sizes. In principle, you can add any other decorations to the rhinestones - beads, beads unsuitable for weaving, even fragments of costume jewelry. We work in a similar way:

  • We come up with a composition from the existing decorations, arranging them in a variety of order;
  • when the composition is thought up, we draw a diagram or sketch so as not to confuse anything;
  • Using glue and tweezers, decorate the headband with a composition of rhinestones.

Need I say that both decoration techniques can be combined?

Decorating hair headbands with beads is more versatile.

Firstly, you can work with beads in the same way as with rhinestones - you will get an original decoration using the Huichol technique.

Secondly, the headband can be braided with beads. Of course, you only need to braid the outer part of the rim. Again, here you can go two ways: braid the headband with monofilament, immediately securing the weave to the headband with broaches, or first create a weave and then simply stick it on the headband. By the way, such luxurious beaded motifs as wicker flowers, snowflakes, leaves, as well as cabochon stones braided with beads, look wonderful on the headband.

Thirdly, the headband can be embroidered with beads. Of course, only if you have a fabric headband. However, for those who really want to achieve something, a plastic blank is not an obstacle - after all, it can also be covered with fabric.

Beads are almost the same beads, only larger. Therefore, you can decorate the headband with beads in the same way as in the case of beads - stick, braid, embroider. However, it is worth noting that beads still differ from seed beads in their size. Therefore, there is one more point - the decoration on the bead rim. The decoration is created separately on a leather or felt backing, and then glued to the headband.

Headband with ears

And yet we are now talking not so much about holidays in general, but about New Year's Eve. What is New Year? Not only a Christmas tree and Olivier, but also a costume ball! If you don’t believe me, ask your children or remember your own childhood. This means that you may well need a headband with ears on New Year’s Eve - if you want to transform into a bunny, a squirrel or a symbol of the coming year, a dog.
